Winter 2008
in the last few storms of winter snow,
forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet
and the warm winds long to play with your hair. soon.
each perception of season, each adventure, each practice,
each relationship, every yoga that you choose to experience is what you become.
empower your potential to make each one ,sri . . . be sri.
sri is a sanskrit word, pronounced "shree" that means:
widespread radiance: or
auspicious, propitious, successful, life-affirming.
"sri is life saying yes to itself" ~d.b.
it's a heavy duty profound notion for an esoteric understanding the way mysterious Reality is ---
but it can also be a modern, pragmatic application of yoga to our lives.
and this way, we engage our lives meaningfully. yoga.
this is it, as offered recently a lot in class, and upon request in written form...you ask, consistently: is this sri?
the way you know if anything is sri, is to check in with the 6 qualities of sri and what you get --- awareness.
here they are. sri is:
- economical 100% balanced. not too much, not too little. just enough. it feels like the right amount.
- exigent an urgent resourcefulness. knowing what you've got and making good use of it.
- effulgent there is a moreness. it radiates. it grows.
- efficacious measurable, desirable results. it works.
- evocative poetic suggestion. it elicits a reaction.
- essential necessary and fundamental. heart in it.
what are you endeavoring in to? is it sri? you may find yourself walking around saying "that is so sri!" or even "that is so not sri!"
have fun practicing. i hope it's interesting!<\p>
love, nixa
